Faerie Folk

Faerie society is very strict. It teaches strict discipline to learn about every single aspect of nature, magic, and the history of the magical beings of the world. Since The Great War few Faeries ever venture out away from their homeland. All faerie cities are located in The Kilraw Forest. They mostly shun contact with the outside world. Strangers are rarely welcome in their cities, even their own cousins the Elves and Orcs. Sprites and Pixies are tolerated but they are too mischievous for the faeries taste

Faerie Folk do not eat meat, their systems are not adapted to digesting it and eating it can actually kill them. It is one of the few things they are very susceptible to.

Faeries are magical creatures and cousins to the Elves, Orcs, Pixies, and Sprites. They too do not suffer the effects from aging and illness. As with Elves they can die from wounds. It is said that there is a Faerie in the world that was born at the creation of time. But those that have gone seeking this Faerie have never returned. The average age of a Faerie venturing out (you mean they actually venture out?) is about 150 years. Usually they are teenagers that run away from home.

Sprites and Pixies are more accepting of other races. They are extremely curious by nature and tend to be more adventurous than their Faerie cousins. As with Faeries they are not susceptible to age or illness and can only die from wounds.

Social Structure of the Faeries

  • Nobility

    -Faerie King/Faerie Queen
Like the Elven King and Queen, the Faerie King and Queen rule over all of the faerie folk, including the pixies and the sprites.

  • Common Faerie Folk

    -Faeries
Faeries tend to have hair, skin and eyes in colors of the forest. They have beautifully colored wings that are similar in shape to the wings of a butterfly. Their wings have more of a point at the edges though than the wings of a butterfly. But like a butterfly their wings are colored and more substantial.

    -Pixies
Pixies are fun loving and adventure out quite often unlike their faerie cousins. Few make permanent homes outside of the Kilraw Forest but many spend years out traveling the lands. Pixies too tend to have skin coloring of the forest. Their wings are translucent with just hints of color and are more delicate looking than Faeries.

    -Sprites
Sprites are extremely mischievous and love to play pranks on others. Many times their pranks are mistaken as a haunting by humans and this greatly upsets them. They don’t want some dead ghost person to get all the credit for their hard earned prank. Sprites rarely leave the comfort of the forest, but a few have befriended adventurers and have traveled out to see the world. Sprites skin is colored like the forest as well but their wings can be like a Faerie or a Pixie.

    -Leprechauns *
Leprechauns are the most powerful of the Faerie Folk. They are born with great magic that is completely natural to them. It is said that the Leprechauns are keepers of the rainbows and whenever you see a rainbow it means that a leprechaun is bringing good luck to all those who view it. Others even say that the rainbow shows people where the Leprechauns villages are. No one has ever found a village from the Leprechauns. Leprechauns are not very adventurous and don’t take kindly to strangers, they prefer to keep to their own kind and stay surrounded by nature.

*Leprechauns are so powerful and rare that they are not allowed to be played in the world of Abinasia as a normal player race. They have been listed here because they are a direct line in the Faerie Folk.
